ECORECOVERY: FRIGO STAHL EXPANDS ECORECOVERY IN ORAIOKASTRO
The completion of the expansion project for the Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) / Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) Production Unit, known as the SRF/RDF Plant “NORDECO,” situated in the Industrial Area of Thessaloniki, marks a significant milestone. Surpassing an annual production of 80,000 tons of Alternative Fuel, ECORECOVERY has solidified its position as a frontrunner in the Waste-to-Energy Recovery sector.
ΜIn its endeavor to enhance overall capacity, ECORECOVERY engaged Frigo Stahl to undertake the design and construction of new industrial facilities. These include areas for material depackaging, storage shelters, perimeter fencing, and the establishment of a 2,500 m² environmental zone, along with the creation of additional office spaces.

Following the completion of this investment, we had the opportunity to speak with ECORECOVERY’s CEO, Mr. Vasilis Alafouzos, who expressed his pride in the new facilities. He emphasized their integral role within a comprehensive investment strategy aimed at advancing the company’s growth trajectory.
The Frigo Stahl team admirably rose to the occasion, successfully executing the expansion of our Thessaloniki unit within the agreed-upon cost and timeframe. Our positive experience as clients of Frigo Stahl has fostered a relationship built on trust and reliability, reaffirming our decision to entrust Frigo Stahl’s turnkey system.
From Frigo Stahl’s standpoint, Project Manager Mr. P. Firtinidis conveyed to Food Reporter the importance of collaborative synergy with each entrepreneur and their team. He highlighted the necessity for flexibility, understanding, and respect for the unique attributes of each project.
The expansion of a vibrant, dynamic production unit operating at full capacity, without compromising productivity or work quality, presented a challenge that we embraced and successfully surmounted. We extend our gratitude to ECORECOVERY for their trust, as well as to all the researchers, supervisors, technicians, and workers whose contributions were instrumental in achieving this milestone.
